Ingredients

Waffles

  • 300 g all-purpose flour sifted
  • 20 g baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 40 g sugar
  • 415 g milk warmed
  • 2 large eggs room temperature (55g each)
  • 90 g unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Waffles

  • Preheat your waffle iron - each waffle iron is different in size and strength. Your waffle iron might need to be hotter than mine and you might use less or more batter than my waffle iron. But you should aim for a medium high heat and your waffles will take about 8 - 10 minutes to cook. I had my waffle iron on 200C / 395F and cooked them for 9 minutes.
  • Combine dry ingredients - Add the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar to large jug or bowl and whisk to combine.
  • Add wet ingredients - Add the warmed milk, eggs, melted butter and vanilla extract and whisk until well combined. The batter will be thick and creamy with some small lumps. Take care not to overmix. If the batter appears too thick, add a couple tbsp of milk and fold through using a spatula. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and rest for 20 minutes.
  • To cook your waffles - Spray your waffle iron with oil spray or brush with melted butter. Pour or scoop some batter onto your preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown.. The amount of batter you use depends on the size of your waffle iron. Again, each waffle iron is different, but you can usually tell they’re ready when steam isn’t coming out as much and they appear a deep golden color on the outside with a nice crust.
  • How to serve - Serve with your favorite toppings. Hazelnut spread, Strawberries, berries, maple syrup, cream or chocolate sauce!

Notes

Cooking time - varies depending on your waffle iron and the size of the waffles. You’ll be able to tell how to cook the rest of your waffles after cooking the first round so just do one waffle as a test. If it takes 15 minutes too cook (too long) increase the temperature. If it’s too dark and raw in the middle, decrease the temperature.
Storage - Waffles are best served the day they’re made but can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
Nutrition - is an approximate and is based on per serving. This recipe makes about 10 large waffles and serves 4-5 people.
A note on measurements – This recipe uses weight measurements for the most accurate results.
