1 Minute Chocolate Cake

Making a really good 1-minute chocolate cake in the microwave is not only possible, but I have the recipe, and I’m willing to give it away for free.

Ingredients

1 minute chocolate cake

  • 1/4 cup (40 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp bittersweet chocolate chopped

Instructions
 

1 minute chocolate cake

  • Get ready for delicious cake in 60 seconds! Add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt to a regular sized mug that is microwave safe. Use a whisk or fork to mix until well combined.
  • Add the milk and melted butter and mix into the cake. Mix until a batter forms. Then add the chopped chocolate on top and fold in. Microwave for 1 minute. If the centre is still jiggly, microwave for another 20-30 seconds. Every microwave is different in strength.
  • Optional: Garnish with whipped cream and sprinkles on top.

Notes

Storage
I wouldn’t recommend storing this cake, it doesn’t keep well, but what’s cool about it is you can make the batter up to a da in advance if you wish, store it in the fridge and then cook it when you’re ready!
Baking
You can bake this cake by simply preheating a fan forced oven to 180C. Make sure whatever you bake it in is oven safe and bake for 4-5 minutes.
The mug
Make sure the mug is microwave safe. It usually says if it is on the bottom of the mug.
Microwave
Every microwave is different and so you may need an extra 20-30 seconds of time if your cake is still jiggle in the centre. It should appear moist but fully cooked.
