Editorial Policy
What is The Scran Line?
The Scran Line is run by me, Nick Makrides. I personally create, test, and refine every recipe you see on the site. If something doesn’t work in the kitchen, I’ll keep working on it until it’s just right, so you don’t have to.
The Scran Lines Mission
My goal is to make baking fun, creative, and approachable for everyone. Whether you’re making a show-stopping dessert or a simple treat, I want you to feel confident in the kitchen.
Recipe Development
Every recipe is tested and retested until I’m completely happy with it. I don’t copy others’ recipes—everything is tested from scratch, drawing inspiration only for flavor or technique tweaks. For example, I didn’t invent chocolate cupcakes, so I usually start with research before I can better understand how I’m going to create my own recipe.
Content Creation
All the blog posts, videos, and photos you see are created and reviewed by me. I focus on making sure the texture, flavor, and method are spot-on, so you can follow along easily at home.
Updating Recipes
As I learn and refine my techniques, some recipes may be updated to make them even better. If you need an older version of a recipe, just get in touch and I’ll help you out.
Transparency & Accountability
Everything on The Scran Line is tested and created by me with care. If you spot an issue or something unclear, let me know—I’m always open to improving the experience for my readers.
Reader Comments & Ratings
I love hearing from you! Feel free to leave a comment or a star rating with your thoughts on a recipe. Just be respectful and constructive. Your honest feedback helps me improve my recipes and gives other bakers a better idea of what to expect. Just a heads up, if you’re going to change a recipe by swapping ingredients and leave a one star review, that’s not on me. All of my recipes are designed to work exactly as they’re written after rigorous testing!
Affiliate Marketing
At The Scran Line, I sometimes use affiliate links, which means if you click on a link and make a purchase, I’ll earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you. These commissions help me keep the site running and allow me to keep creating fun and exciting recipes for you.
But here’s the deal: I’ll only ever recommend products that I personally use and love in my own kitchen. If I don’t trust it, I won’t share it with you, simple as that.
Whenever a link is part of an affiliate program, I’ll always let you know upfront. You’ll never be left guessing whether a link generates revenue or not—I’m all about keeping things transparent and honest.
