Letโ€™s talk Chocolate!

Yes, the type of chocolate you use matters. In short, you want to use good quality cooking chocolate which can be found in the baking isle of your supermarket. You can make these curls out of milk or white chocolate too.

How to prep your chocolate!

The idea here is to soften your chocolate slightly. It creates curlier chocolate curls. If itโ€™s a warm, humid day there no need to soften your chocolate, you can start curling away! To soften your chocolate place the entire block (unwrapped) on a heat proof plate and microwave for 10 seconds at a time. Check the chocolate each time. You want to look out for the corners.

Tips and Tricks For Recipe Success!

  • Be careful when youโ€™re peeling your chocolate curls. Itโ€™s easy to peel your fingers! Iโ€™m speaking from experience!
  • Warming up your chocolate is a must to get nice full curls!
  • Store these in an airtight container in the fridge. Theyโ€™re less brittle when theyโ€™re kept cold.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup / 210 g dark cooking chocolate block

Instructions

  • To prepare your chocolate, you need to soften it slightly in the microwave. If itโ€™s a warm, humid day, no need to warm up, just start shaving your chocolate with a vegetable peeler.
  • Place your chocolate on a heatproof plate and microwave for 10 seconds at a time. Each time, pick the chocolate up and check to see if the corners have started melting. If the corners show even the slightest hint of melting and the chocolate feels slightly warm, itโ€™s ready!
  • Shave using a vegetable peeler along the long side of your chocolate bar.

Notes

Storage – Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
